I'm not trying to turn this into one of those, "Internet strangers, please make a life decision for me," posts, but I've been looking at these two pickguard possibilities for far too long to have any objectivity left. What is your preference, cream or tortoise?

Body color is MJT's Whiskeyburst, which the tortoise seems to make look darker.

I also posted this on the Tele forum, but that place has been awfully quiet lately.

Many times I would say black or tortoise but in this case cream all the way.

Tortoise looks good, but I would go cream. What about mint green?? I love those vintage-looking Fender mint green pg's on just about everything.

I'm tempted to say cream, but it depends on the hardware colours. A cream pickguard and gold hardware would look awesome with that body colour.

Can’t vote; no option for “Pickguards are awful”.

Cream, absolutely.

Also, with a Rosewood board.

It’s a little hard to tell without the pups and hardware, but I’d always go cream or aged white or parchment or mint green.

I'm building this for my brother for his birthday. Every other electric he owns has a RW board and he doesn't own a tele, so I'm hoping this one adds something different for him.

I love tort on some colors and bodies.
Natural Jazz Bass needs tort.
3TSB Strat looks good with tort
That shade of Tele is not one of those colors... honestly I'd go with black on that one, creme as a 2nd choice.

But CB is right about black.

To my eye a black pickguard would look better with that shade than tortoise or cream.

I love tortoise & pearl, if one of your options was white pearl, I would have chosen that.
It's always in the eye of the beholder as they say.
All the best !
